Who We Are & Our History

The Gathering Place Church is a church in Roy, UT that began as a church plant in the local community park in 2021. After meeting at the park for three services, we moved to the local public library where we eventually formally became a "church." In January 2022 we then began to gather at a local dance studio until January 2023 when move to our current location at Our Savior's Lutheran Church here in Roy. Our friends at OSLC came to us and generously offered to us a time and space for Bible studies and worship. What a blessing this has been.

  We are a Bible believing gathering of imperfect people growing together in our relationship with Jesus and with each other. 

 TGP is a warm and loving church, and we want you to feel comfortable and at liberty to call on us for anything you need. Feel free to browse through the various areas of our website and learn about us.

We are a Southern Baptist church. This means that we are in friendly cooperation with the general Southern Baptist Convention, the Utah Idaho Southern Baptist Convention, and the Golden Spike Baptist Network in endeavors of reaching the world for Christ. Southern Baptists have prepared a statement of generally held convictions called The Baptist Faith and Message. It serves as a guide to understanding who they are. Copies of The Baptist Faith and Message are available from the pastor and online.

As a New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ, we are an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel, observing the two ordinances of Christ, (Baptism and the Lord's Supper) governed by His laws, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word, and seeking to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth. Our congregation operates under the Lordship of Christ through democratic processes. In such a congregation each member is responsible and accountable to Christ as Lord.
